Regional Assembly Report -2019
The seventh Regional assembly of the Daughters of Divine Providence of Indian Region, held from 5th to 7th October 2019 in Elena Bettini Regional House., Bangalore with the theme “Committed to be a prophetic witness of Christ on the road of Providence”. 24 sisters and 6 novices participated in the Assembly.
The opening ceremony of the Assembly began at 8.30am with the solemn celebration of the Holy Eucharist. Sr.Maria Reena Puthenpurackal , the Regional Vicar welcomed the gathering before the Holy Eucharist, In her inaugural talk she highlighted, we the daughters of Elena need to be Christ centered women for a common mission of nurturing and striving for the transformation of our society. She also focused on three dimensions of FDP spirituality: Contemplative, mission and Marian. Rev.Fr.Xavier OP celebrated the Holy Eucharist giving us a heart touching message, about the importance of being a missionary in our daily activities. He changed our perspective of being a missionary not only working in far places like North east. We felt the heaven came down upon us during the Eucharistic celebration to bless our Regional assembly. The guided adoration followed by the Eucharist by the father himself added more vigor to our spirit to be prophetic witness of Christ on the road of Providence.
Followed by the adoration the sisters proceeded to conference hall in a procession carrying the footprints as a symbol of our missionary journey in different apostolate, imploring the Holy Spirit. As we entered the hall the Regional counselor Sr.M.Alphonsa Manikhyathan led us in to prayer and each one of us placed the footprints symbol on the logo. She challenged us with a few reflections: Has our love for God grown cold? How can we be ready 24 into 7 to give the reason for our faith, our love and our choice to be consecrated? etc.
Then the official opening of the 7th Regional assembly declared by Sr.Mary Thumbalan, the Regional superior, focusing the theme “committed to be a prophetic witness of Christ on the road of providence”.
