REGIONAL ASSEMBLY- 2018, INDIAN REGION
The sixth Regional Assembly of the Daughters of Divine Providence of Indian Region, took place from 18th October to 21st October 2018 in Elena Bettini Regional House, Bangalore with the theme “Constitutions- an innovative Path to Holiness”. The opening ceremony of the Assembly began at 8.30am with the solemn celebration of the Holy Eucharist. Sr. M. Reena, welcomed the whole gathering before the Holy Eucharist, highlighting the importance of the Regional Assembly and asking God’s providential care and blessings upon each one of us. The Eucharist was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Naveen O.P. the Parish priest of “Our Lady of Divine Providence” church at Kannur.
During the Eucharistic Celebration, Sr. Mary Thumbalan, the Regional Superior introduced the updated Constitution and brought awareness among the sisters the necessity to follow these rules and live an authentic consecrated life. The Celebrant blessed, released and handed over the first copy of the Constitution to the Regional Superior. There after Sr. Mary T entrusted the Constitutions to each sister and the sisters received it very devotedly. It was really a touching moment.
Soon after the Holy Mass, the sisters were directed to go in procession to the conference hall while everyone sang the hymn to Mother Elena Bettini.
The Regional Assembly began asking God’s blessings and symbolically exposed the theme, “Constitutions- an innovative path to Holiness”, constructing the logo (a ship) by the Regional team and all the Superiors.
Followed by this, Sr. Mary declared Opened the 6th Regional Assembly and she assured the prayerful presence of our Mother General by reading her message. Then she welcomed everybody to spend these days of togetherness proactively. She presented the agenda of the meeting. She invited us to look in to the important aspects of Formation, opening of new horizons and to an innovative way to live our consecrated life.
We had an instructive secssion on ‘Constitutions- an innovative path to Holiness’ by Fr. Xaviour OP. It was really enlightened path for each one of us to lead our life into holiness.
